Addiction is a powerful disease, it will break you down and destroy everything you love. It will take away everything you’ve worked for in a heartbeat.

How do you fight it? What do you have to do to tame this beast?

It’s not easy by any means, but it is possible.

You’ll need a strong support system, will power, faith, hope and determination.

The first step is admitting that you have a problem, you can’t hide that fact anymore. Once you can admit that, you’ll no longer be as vulnerable to your addiction.

Then you have to build a support system, tell your friends, tell your parents, tell a support group. Whoever you need to tell that can help hold you accountable. You need them to call you out when you try to make excuses, because I know you will.

Will power isn’t easy to gain, but I know you can do it. Tell yourself that you have the strength to overcome this obstacle, that you can and will fight it.

You must have faith that you can do this, faith in yourself is one of the most important aspects of recovery, without it, you’re nothing.

Hope can come easily at first, but it’s easy to lose. Don’t let that happen, tell yourself that you’re going to make it, that you’re going to break this addiction and have a better life.

Determination is key, you have to want it to achieve it.

Fighting addiction is an ugly battle, it hurts so bad, but it’s the best decision you will ever make. Get up, get out there and fight that disease, I know you can do it.
