1. Facebook Apps

Do you give Facebook followers an easy way to join your newsletter?  Facebook has apps for Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, and others to allow your followers to sign up.  This makes it easier for you to capture a consumer group, or a list of individuals who may be interested in company news and updates.

Ever run promotions, sweepstakes, or contests through Facebook?  There’s an app that will do a lot of the work for you!  Check out Wishpond for lots of different options and includes a referral set up if your business allows for referral codes, or Heyo for a simple set up with easily customized templates.

If you don’t already have a company blog, create one.  Facebook’s Networked Blogs allow you to integrate your blog with visual appeal, it also allows you to keep up with other blogs you may find relevant or interesting.

2. Pages to Watch

At the bottom of your Insights Overview page, there is a section to add “pages to watch” this is a great way to keep an eye on competitive businesses or even make sure you are keeping up with professional peer companies.  Choose companies that are in your immediate area if you are a small or local business to see how you stack up.  If one company is doing exceptionally well, watch their page to see what they post, what sort of content gets their followers engaged.  This is a great tool to not only make sure you are keeping up or standing out against other businesses, but also to gain some insight into best practices if one or two businesses are really excelling at the whole Facebook thing.

3. Scheduled Posts

Did you know that if you use Facebook’s scheduling tool their algorithm increases the post’s reach?  That means if you schedule your posts in advance, more people will see your post and possibly engage and become customers.  If you keep a social media calendar (which you should) then you’ll have a pretty good idea of what will be posted each day.  You can go in at the beginning of the month after creating the calendar, and schedule all of the posts.  Specific copy and photos can be edited later and still get the same benefit from scheduling.  TIP: If you know a photo will be in the post make sure to add a placer photo in the scheduled post, you cannot edit and add a photo to a plain text post.
