Readers doesn’t like messy homepage. Even if you have good blog content but your page is a mess they might lose interest. That’s why if you want to attract more readers, you should have a nice and presentable homepage because through it, your readers will have a glimpse of what you write or do.
If you are just starting your blog on WordPress, looking for the right theme is difficult as it takes time and familiarity. But once you figured out the right one for you, you’d be surprised that you are using it for months or even years!
With all the free themes available, below are my top 3 picks.
Sela
This is my current theme and I love it. I’ve been using it for 4 months and it was just 2 months ago month when I figured out how to make a homepage and recent page where the readers can see all my recent posts.
I love the simplicity of the theme and how I could show my top blog posts for the week. I also fell in love with it because the theme lets its users to put a logo. To get the demos’ front page look, just check the info and follow the instructions.
Toujours
This theme has a sideshow which will highlight your featured posts (maximum of 8 posts). The slideshow will work well when you set a featured photo on your posts. This is a great theme when you are into photography and are sharing your work.
Just follow the instructions and you’ll get the demos’ homepage look.
Gateway
Again, another simple theme which is similar to Sela. However, with this theme, it allows the user to easily navigate the menu because when you scroll the page down, the menu will remain on your screen. This theme also allows the user to put a logo which I personally love.
Remember to follow the instructions at the info page.
**The themes mentioned are fully responsive.
**Note that these are just suggestions.
