Life is too short, and way too unpredictable to allow people to tear you down. Often times the people who try to suffocate us are doing so because our existence reminds them of how unhappy, and unfulfilled their lives are. Do not give these individuals a second look. They are irrelevant, if they don’t contribute to your happiness.

If you are surrounded by people that make you unhappy, please know that this is not acceptable. We all deserve to feel accepted, appreciated, and dignified. So, take steps to change the group of people the surround you, or your mindset toward them.

Spring cleaning doesn’t just refer to our homes. Take out time to clean out those in your life that strangle your joy, and cause you pain. A famous person once said ” Life’s too short to start your day with broken pieces of yesterday, it will definitely destroy your wonderful today and ruin your great tomorrow.” Begin this week by not carrying around dead weight, people who stifle our passions, and potential to be happy. You are more special than you think. Our differences make us unique. They are like the colors used to paint; each one combines with another to bring to life a masterpiece. Accept others and yourself.

  3. Awesome article! Reminds me of a piece I wrote on validation. I was going through something a while back and it was the concept that you wrote about here that pulled me through. Basically, I learned that I was a people pleaser but I am getting better. I have realized that the only being I need validation from is God. Thanks for the reminder! Check out my article if you have time.
