The Power of Affirmations (1 min read)

It’s never easy to make a big change in hopes of becoming a better self (if it was, we’d all be in amazing shape, be CEOs, have perfect health, never feel anxious, and have found a simple solution to every other problem we have, right?) The truth is, a good mind is the first step to making a positive change in any aspect of life.

Daily Affirmations: Positive affirmations” can be used to reprogram your thought patterns and change the way you think and feel about things. They are short, positive statements that can help you focus on goals, get rid of negative, self-defeating beliefs and program your subconscious mind.”

Tell yourself:

Tell yourself you’re capable. Tell yourself you look great, you are beautiful, you are going to lose weight, you are going to get healthy. Tell yourself you are going to get that promotion, you are going to learn that crochet stitch. Tell yourself you are happy, healthy, wealthy, blessed, confident, strong, brave.

Even if you don’t believe it right away, you eventually will, and the success will follow.

Write them down:

Rather than pushing them to the back of my mind during the busyness of life, I find that taking the time to physically write down affirmations forces me to think about them. It’s a nice little window of time I set aside just for affirmations (in addition to reminding myself of them throughout the day.) Pick yourself up a journal, any size and any type will do. It can be a basic notebook, as long as it has empty pages. Write every day if you can, every other day, once a week–whatever is going to keep you writing your affirmations down. It only takes a few minutes:

  • “I live up to my full potential.”
  • “I make plans and stick to them.”
  • “I am confident.”
  • “I am prosperous and wealthy.”
  • “I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.”
  • “I am patient.”
  • “I respect everyone, no matter their views or opinions.”
  • “I never give up.”
  • “I am a successful *insert career*.”
  • “I have a huge clientele.”

And absolutely anything else that correlates with your life and your happiness.

It doesn’t matter how unimaginable the affirmations may seem as you say them. Over time, your subconscious mind will believe them and before you know it, your conscious mind. It will naturally put you in a position to achieve your goals. It’s an amazing phenomenon!

Being filled with positivity and believing in your incredible ability is the first step of cultivating a happy and successful self. Have a happy mind, and the success will follow.

  1. Hi,
This is a very useful article to anyone facing a deadend situation, or trying to understand the reasons why inexplicable bad things happen to them.
Once the brain has been “programmed” from a very young age to think negatively, and the hectic pace of modern life has only made this sense of negativity or pessimism stronger for many people in life, then it is hard to “reprogramme” the brain to think positively.
Affirmations can definitely help, like wishes did in fairy tales, where the power of wish could help peope do magical things. Affirmations make us feel nice, and, first of all, feel good with ourselves. People can see it, without even us realizing it, so they can feel and think positively themselves. In this way, affirmations can be “transmitted” from one person to another, which is a very good thing.

    1. Thank you so much for this! That is a perfect way to put it, that if anything it makes us feel and think positively about ourselves, and isn’t that what it is really all about :)? It’s amazing what “reprogramming” our thoughts can do, it can be life changing.
      Thanks so much for reading!

  2. Well, yeah affirmation helps a lot. But affirmation needs constant motivation to be effective. You must have an intense desire to work for something. Then affirmation can help.
Anyways I am glad to read it.
