Adult coloring books are becoming increasingly popular. There are all kinds available, and can be found in many stores. There are books with animals, colors, shapes and more. While this may seem childish, it’s actually a great release.
1. Relaxing. Adult coloring can be very relaxing. After busy days filled with work, bills, kids, and even working toward that next degree there is little time to let your mind rest during the day. Running constantly all day everyday to keep up with you routine can bring about so much stress. But, if you grab a glass of wine and light a candle with your coloring book, your day can become uptight to feeling calm within minutes.
2. Clarity. They key to adult coloring is to let your mind wander while you are coloring. Don’t put too much emphasis on the colors you use, or staying in the lines but let it flow naturally. Let this be more of a mindless activity that you can reflect on things while you are doing it. To make it an even less stressful activity, you can color some each day. There is no need to create stress in coloring one page in one sitting. Make it an activity to end your day with and reflect on the days events.
3. Me-Time. Adult coloring is an awesome way to engage in quality “me-time.” While you can do this with anyone around, it gives you an opportunity to focus on yourself and the picture you are creating. It is also an opportunity to engage in something that does not involve social media, television, cell phones, or tablets. The finished product will bring about so much satisfaction.
So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, grab some gel pens or colored pencils, your trusty adult coloring book and let the colors flow onto the paper!

I have been coloring for years. I don’t use those fancy coloring books. I have simple crayola crayons and my Spider-Man coloring book.

I remember my friends laughing when I told them I bought one of those therapy coloring books. However, as you said, they’re quite relaxing! 🙂 I often find it nice to play music and just color for hours.
Sometimes you can hang them up in your room, on your fridge or cut out the pictures to put on a inspiration/mood board! They add a sense of vibrance to wherever you decide to use them, and even if you don’t, it makes you feel fulfilled to look at the complete picture.
Thanks for sharing! Couldn’t agree more 🙂

I couldn’t agree more!! I’m currently working on a (masterpiece 😂) myself! It’s really got me through some tough times just sitting and relaxing… I’ve often thought how fab it would be to have a adult colouring in club!!!

Some time ago I saw doctors on The News talking about adults coloring books. They said this hobby doesn’t makes you relax, it’s not scientificly approved, BUT some seconds after their comments camera was showing people in workshops where they are meeting regulary, coloring and feeling happy, freely communicating and etc. So… it says a lot about adult coloring books! 😉
