You may think, “What type of title is How to be Unhappy in life?” Yes we all want to happy, but sometimes, we subconsciously follow those things in life that make us unhappy.

If you want to be happy in life, first, you have to eliminate the reason of your unhappiness in life.

These are all well-known to you, but sometimes you forget to overlook these things that are causing your unhappiness.

So how can you invite an unhappy life into your life?

1. Complain.

Unhappiness comes when things go wrong.

“Why do such things always happen to me only?”

“Does the rain not start after some time? Does it always remain bad weather here!”

“The new boss is not good at all; He is total irresponsible and always firing me only.”

We always expect goodness out of situations, but we have to remember it has nothing to do with the weather.

We then try to find something else to complain about, and after the issues are resolved, we still do not stop complaining about with new issue again.

How to control the tendency of complaining:

  • Awareness: Consciousness is the first step to solve problem.
  • Understand the source of problem: Why we complain about particular things, people, and situations. find out what’s hidden, and address it.
  • Be positive: Spend time on things that make you happy. Focusing on other things that make you unhappy are not helpful.
  • Talk Less: More action instead of talk is useful for solving issues.

2. Compare.

Do I have a habit of comparing myself with others?

“She is doing well in her career than me.”

“Why am I not so rich person as Mr X?”

It is lesser value to compare yourself with others as other people are not you and you are not other people. Rather, discourage yourself on thinking about others and what they have. Think about what you want to have in your life.

3. Worry before things happen.

It is very easy to be unhappy when we think about the things that happen to us such as:

  • Giving a presentation at a monthly meeting. (What if questions arise and you can’t answer them well? If people think they’re boring?)
  • Attending a social event. (What if no one talks to me?)
  • Starting a new business. (What if my business fails? If investors are not interested?)

When you think and worry about the future, you are not living in the present, so stop worrying about the future.

4. Avoid issues.

If you hide your problems, it doesn’t help at all, so don’t avoid the problems. Instead, persist in your life, acknowledge and address it by breaking your comfort zone.

5. Do things you don’t like.

People do the things they don’t like. They make themselves unhappy by doing things they do not love, but you don’t have to do that. If you don’t like your job than switch to something you do love.. Remember you are the CEO of your own life.

6. Try to change others.

This is a simple way of being unhappy. Can you really change others? It is impossible. Even if people do change in response to your actions, it doesn’t solve your problems because you initially become happy, but then ultimately don’t. Because the problems are not them, it is you and your desire of trying to change them.

7. Please others.

Just like trying to change others, trying to please everyone around you makes you just as unhappy, because it is impossible to please everyone, and everyone is different.

Don’t change yourself just because someone has different expectations on you and how you should be. You live for yourself, not for others.

  1. I’m a textbook case for this article. It’s so true though but you just have to start each day completely new, without previous worries or thoughts and not to put too much pressure on yourself. Thanks for this post, a great read indeed!
