From beginning of civilization till today’s modern era, the world has been fortunate enough to see birth of some the great leaders of all time. Be it Lokmanya Tilak, Abraham Lincoln, Steve Jobs and so on. The list is endless. These are the people who lead people, who make people follow them without trying purposely, they have that air around them that make us want to be like them. They motivate us; inspire us even after their death. We all want to be like them, but do you know what they have that makes them special? Well , continue reading to find out.

1. They know how to speak (communicate).

Great leaders don’t have to force people to obey them, their power of speech makes people want to follow them. As Chanakya said, “The man, who knows how to speak, is the man who rules the world.”

2. They help others grow.

Leaders are called leaders for a reason. They not only seek their development but also of those around them. They help people choose the correct way to reach their goals.

3. They have confidence.

They are confident about themselves. They are calm, poised and less likely to get shaken up when tragedies hit them.

4. They are humble.

Even though they have confidence, they remain humble. Humility is one of the greatest virtues anyone can have even when they are at the top. We often encounter people who grow arrogant once they are successful, but leaders are the one who are able to remain modest even at the peaks of their lives.

5. They are able to face failures.

When most of us crumble in the moment of crisis, leaders get up and face them. They remain calm and think their way out of it.  They don’t let failures set them back; instead they use it as a stepping stone to success.

6. They take responsibility.

In the words of Spiderman, “With great powers comes great responsibility”. And leaders know it. They take responsibility for their actions. They don’t make excuses and point fingers at other, instead they step up and face it and fix it.

7. They have intuition.

Most of the leaders hardly recall notes they wrote in school. For them they don’t follow any sort of guidelines, it comes naturally to them. These people have some sort of built in mechanism which remembers the past experiences, highlight the important points from them and use them to make decisions.

8. They are not afraid of commitment.

They stick to their words and promises, making people trust them. No one will listen to a person if they can’t trust him.

9. They believe in themselves.

Remember, no one will believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself. You can’t achieve anything if you don’t believe that you can.

So, friends this is it. If you have any more points I would like to hear them from you. And are YOU one of them?

  1. Honesty Strong leaders treat people the way they want to be treated. They are extremely ethical and believe that honesty, effort, and reliability form the foundation of success. They embody these values so overtly that no employee doubts their integrity for a minute. They share information openly, and avoid spin control. By Peter Economy
