Today I am going to talk about the power of auto-suggestion and the subconscious mind. To be honest, this is something that I recently began to believe in and have quickly come to realize the power of it.

Napoleon Hill defines auto-suggestion as the “agency of communication between the conscious mind and the seat of action for the subconscious mind”. Let’s break this down a little bit. Basically, your subconscious mind is your most powerful and valuable asset. Your subconscious mind drives all your actions and results in life without you even realizing it.

The Subconscious mind

The subconscious mind, however, can only be accessed through the conscious mind. If we do not control our thoughts and emotions we can poison our subconscious mind and harm ourselves without realizing it. The subconscious mind is much like your body. This is because if you feed it with junk foods and don’t exercise you will end up lethargic, overweight and with little energy. If you feed it properly with a nutritious diet, exercise regularly and get a good sleep every night you will have much higher energy levels, feel better and accomplish more.

The subconscious mind is similar in many ways. If you constantly have negative thoughts or emotions circulating through your head like “Oh I can’t do that”, “there’s no way I could lose ten pounds that quickly” or “I could never be as great a player as her”, no matter the negativity, you are hurting yourself more than you realize.

Your mind begins to tell yourself that you will never achieve these things and you are not worthy of them.

A quote from Brian Tracy explains the significance of what begins to happen to your mind very well.”Your subconscious mind is an unquestioning servant that works day and night to make your behavior fit a pattern consistent with your emotionalized thoughts, hopes, and desires. Your subconscious mind grows either flowers or weeds in the garden of your life, whichever you plant by the mental equivalents you create”.

So if you are feeding your subconscious mind with crap your results will be crap. You NEED to be positive, optimistic and have an abundance attitude. How do you plant a beautiful garden in your mind as opposed to a desert with weeds?

Your Beautiful Garden

Figure out your goals. Write them down and make sure they are clearly defined. You need to look at your goals all the time and read them aloud to yourself at least twice a day. However, if you feel this is stupid (don’t worry I used to as well) it will never work. And get over that feeling now because this works trust me!

To see the positive effects you need to mix in emotions, faith and feelings. If you don’t truly believe it then neither will your subconscious mind. Read up on the subconscious mind, the law of attraction and other related topics until you truly believe in it. Belief is everything! Repeat your statements over and over again until you truly believe them and are absolutely certain that whatever you have been feeding your subconscious mind is bound to happen and it will. Napoleon Hill spent the majority of his life studying the most successful people in the world and is one of the many successful people who wrote about how important this is, there has to be something to it.

Once you begin to do this, it is so important that you persist, persist and continue to persist. You think because you tell yourself for two days that you will make a million dollars you will have it in two days? That is completely idiotic and it will never happen. You must be willing to commit to these principles and persist over a long period of time. If it was that easy everybody would be millionaires already.

It is also very important to not only think and speak about what you want but also to visualize it. Picture yourself every single day where you will be when you achieve your goals. Think about how you will feel, what you will be doing, who you will be with. The more details the better. I remember seeing a great quote from Will Smith about how he was an A-list actor in his head before anybody else ever realized he was. Visualize your goals every day and your subconscious mind will help you achieve them.

Things to remember

A couple things to remember. You need to fixate your mind on what you really want because that will help those goals and thoughts enter your subconscious mind! Remember to visualize, think about and repeat your goals to yourself all the time, repetition is key! And even more importantly remember to believe, yes be fully sold on these goals or else they will never happen. Lastly, you must follow every part of the formula. Like anything great, you won’t achieve amazing things by half-assing them and cutting corners. Success is found in the corners that everybody else chooses to cut.

I wish everybody reading this article the best of luck and highly recommend that you begin to action this today. Because then you won’t even need the luck! Feel free to share any of your thoughts or experiences on this subject below. Or if you have any goals you are currently trying to achieve with this method currently let us know below and you will be even closer on your path to achieving them.
