We all have been there. Stuck. In a rut. Merely living and letting the days pass by. Some are okay with living in a bubble, but many are looking and yearning for more. After all, you only have this one life to live.
So what stops people from going after their dreams? Going after what they want? Is it fear? Is it that they are comfortable? It is an aversion to change? Maybe it’s all of the above.
Here are reasons why you need to step out of your comfort zone:
1) You will gain self-confidence
People that are confident are confident because they believe in themselves and know that they are capable of anything. They got that way not by letting life pass by, but by going after what they want and accomplishing their goals. In order to accomplish these goals, self-confident people are constantly stepping out of their comfort zones. Once you are confident in yourself, you are more likely to try new things because in the end you know it will all be okay no matter what.
2) You will grow as a person
Stop and think about some of the people that are closest to you in your life. Now think about those that are constantly taking risks and those that stick to the same activities day in and day out. Which of those people have shown growth and have evolved over the years? I bet it’s the ones that are constantly taking risks.
3) You will learn so much more
When you step out of your comfort zone, you experience new things. This in return, translates to learning so much more. Learning is infinite; it never ends. And knowledge is power when it comes to taking control of your own life.
4) Your life will never be boring
Who wants to be bored day in and day out? Stepping out of your comfort zone means new opportunities and new experiences. It’s exciting and even exhilarating. There is never a dull moment and there definitely is never any time to be bored.
So go ahead and take that risk. I can guarantee that you will never regret it.
Paulo Coelho said it best: “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine. It is lethal.”
