You need to get a grip. You can start by taking it one step at a time. If things in your life seem overwhelming, take small steps toward making your life more manageable.

Understand and trust yourself. Know who you are and what you are capable of. There will be hurdles and there will be ways to resolve. The path you have chosen has a purpose, whether good or bad. Be happy if you chose the right path. Be determined to resolve if you chose the wrong path.

Do you write for yourself? Do you write for others? Do you write to write? Do you write about writing? You know, I see these questions often intertwined in posts with listicles offering advice for those of us that like to write. My intent is not to address the Why, What, When, Who and How of writing. My intent is to entertain what transpires after our post publishes for all the world to see.

I am enjoying the outside, while sitting on the back porch. My favorite shade tree is laden with huge lime green leaves which illuminates the tree with a haloing effect. This glow is so significant of summer; everything is bright and sunny.  The landscapers are mowing the grass, which I love the smell of fresh mowed grass. Somehow, I feel in touch with nature and recall how I longed for summer to be near, and now it’s here.

Try a New Approach

Step by step and the thing is done -Charles Atlas
Be what you are. This is the first step toward becoming better than you are – Julius Charles Hare

While there are many motivational quotes to choose from, some stand out more so than others. Perhaps, because they are simple and to the point. Personally, I like to think I can take away a useful message from motivation quotes, poems, and articles, however, I’m not willing to spend my time on stuff I already know.

But, with that said, I still am drawn to anything in writing that relates to motivation. I assume this is because, even though the subject is a popular one for writers, it is an upbeat topic that is usually motivating. Or at least, I hope so since I scan a lot of articles, etc. Yes, I admit to it.

Another admission of mine is I am almost addicted to social media. I say almost because I’m not a Facebook follower nor am I enthralled with reading about anyone’s life online. Now hear me out because I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not my cup of tea.

So exactly what does motivate me? Well, I like to set mini goals and/or take a step by step approach to everything I do. Sure, some of my endeavors require only one step, but others may need more thought. This is where my step by step attitude kicks in. My motivation stems from completing one goal and being able to make a smooth transition to the next.

So, with all of this chit chat about thoughts, goals and motivation, the most important step is that we do this for ourselves. We may take steps and set goals to help others or to complete a job for others, but not for the sake of others. In my humble opinion, this is essential for a realistic approach to motivation.

Color your day for your, yourself and you not for the sake of someone else.

Cheers!
