In middle school, Nick watched an all-day Alfred Hitchcock movie marathon on TV that changed his life forever. His interest in film blossomed as he dove into the filmographies of many classic and contemporary directors. He found film criticism to be a perfect marriage for his love of cinema and writing and he currently pursues both fields in college. His favorite directors include Stanley Kubrick, Jean-Luc Godard, David Lynch, Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, and naturally, Alfred Hitchcock.

Disclaimer: Before I begin, if you didn’t know, last year I released my very first short film to the world (or the internet).  I had never been so nervous in my life, but I was proud of my incredibly amateurish piece of work.  In the end, it was really a learning experience of how not to make a short film, but all of that will be covered in the following blog entries.  If you haven’t seen it, please watch it before reading any of the material.

As you may or may not know, I’ve set up this blog to express my opinions and thoughts on current and past books, albums, and films. So you’re probably wondering (or you may not be, I wouldn’t know) why my first post is centered around a TV show. Stranger Things is unlike any show I’ve ever seen before, and it is so greatly influenced by eighties movies that it feels like you’re watching one.
