Through the mist, through the cloud
came so silently, yet so loud.
Striking the ocean, reflecting so bright
emerged a ray, called sunlight!
Sparkling our eyes, brightening our day
falling at the mountains and the beautiful bay.
Exclusively from heaven, came this unbiased ray
which teaches us a lesson in its own way.

I don’t know about you but my April started out with a bout of stormy weather. Mother nature is spreading her wrath and creating havoc and a path of destruction in many parts of the US. To add to her fickleness, one day it’s spring with lovely budding trees, and the next day winds are gusting at 30-50 MPH and the temp has dropped from the 70s to the 40s.

A bit of craziness, IMO. You know, what’s a person to do except to realize it is what it is and move on. I guess I can’t expect every day to coincide with my wardrobe plans since mother nature doesn’t send me the memo.

So, I’m done with my ranting and thank you for lending me your ear.

On a more pleasant note, the month of April has a lot going for it with one of my favorites being it is Poetry Month. I’m including an excerpt from my source since it is considerably well written and worthy explanation of Poetry Month.

Poetry Month began in 1996 and was started by the Academy of American Poets. It now has the support of many other organisations including the government, art societies, poets and educational leaders. Several countries honour this month-long celebration, including the United States of America, Canada, and Great Britain. However, the month when the celebration takes place differs between countries. Poetry Month has a variety of aims including raising awareness of poetry in the media and schools, encouraging people to read and highlighting the achievements of poets.

If you don’t mind, I’m am returning to my rant about my fickle acquaintance, Mother Nature. On a positive note, I feel she offers a plethora of ideas to inspire us to write, especially those of us that have a fondness for poetry. I mean just imagine the wealth of ideas that spark our imagination as the weather continues to amaze us in countless ways.

Weather lends itself to a poet’s dream offering open doors and endless windows of opportunity much to our delight. So let’s laud our poets and, by the way, it doesn’t hurt to attempt penning a poem or two ourselves. Blank pages are awaiting our unfolding ideation.

With this said, I am penning an ode to Poet’s Month-

A touch of imagination

A bit of inspiration

A tad of ideation

Sparking creation

A spot of time to spend

A message to send

A thought to lend

A chance to pretend

A mind puzzle to link

A snapshot to think

There is no brink

We must spill our ink

§

Join in and support the poets of the world, which is one of the most fulfilling literary genres in existence.

Cheers!

Mom always said, I was not OK, and I needed to improve a lot.

An imposed discipline, a forced regime, an apologetic promise were created to assure her, that I intended to be good.

The New Year Resolutions were framed and hung on the wall, to remind me of my inadequacies.

I can’t recall when Mom’s/ Boss’s voice became my inner voice, and I continued to rebel against myself.

Resolutions, like promises, are meant to be broken. After all, I’m OK.
