So I try to set my mind to all possible good things that could happen.

Step by step and the thing is done -Charles Atlas
Be what you are. This is the first step toward becoming better than you are – Julius Charles Hare

While there are many motivational quotes to choose from, some stand out more so than others. Perhaps, because they are simple and to the point. Personally, I like to think I can take away a useful message from motivation quotes, poems, and articles, however, I’m not willing to spend my time on stuff I already know.

But, with that said, I still am drawn to anything in writing that relates to motivation. I assume this is because, even though the subject is a popular one for writers, it is an upbeat topic that is usually motivating. Or at least, I hope so since I scan a lot of articles, etc. Yes, I admit to it.

Another admission of mine is I am almost addicted to social media. I say almost because I’m not a Facebook follower nor am I enthralled with reading about anyone’s life online. Now hear me out because I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not my cup of tea.

So exactly what does motivate me? Well, I like to set mini goals and/or take a step by step approach to everything I do. Sure, some of my endeavors require only one step, but others may need more thought. This is where my step by step attitude kicks in. My motivation stems from completing one goal and being able to make a smooth transition to the next.

So, with all of this chit chat about thoughts, goals and motivation, the most important step is that we do this for ourselves. We may take steps and set goals to help others or to complete a job for others, but not for the sake of others. In my humble opinion, this is essential for a realistic approach to motivation.

Color your day for your, yourself and you not for the sake of someone else.

Cheers!

Good Things Are Supposed to Happen to You! (2 min read)

I was watching a video of motivational speaker Les Brown and he instructed the audience to say “Good things are supposed to happen to me.” He recommended that the audience say this to themselves daily. Brown then went on to say we tend to expect bad things to happen to us, so we need to affirm the positive. Affirmations are designed to change our subconscious thoughts by constantly referring to them in our conscious minds. Our subconscious impacts us in ways we are unaware of. We tend to have thought patterns and experiences in our past which, if we are not aware, can undermine our conscious efforts to do better in the present.

I once came across a quote that said:

“Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from all negativity.”

Both the battle and freedom are within. We have power over our thoughts to either become free or slaves.

1. “Everything in life is easier when you don’t concern yourself with what everybody else is doing.”

There’s this saying that also says, ‘Comparison is the thief of joy’ and I feel like it’s a little bit of an extension of the above quote as well. When we concern ourselves too much on what everyone else is doing and keep on comparing, it makes everything in life harder because we end up putting too much pressure on ourselves. We end up making unreasonable expectations for ourselves that we’ll struggle to achieve and that in turn will just make us miserable and burnt out.

Hi everyone! The article today is a little different and all about self-respect, something of which I believe to be of paramount importance. I’ve not always had the level of respect for myself that I should have had and some points in my life after hitting serious lows I found it hard to have any confidence and believe in myself. Life is hard and although I have only lived a small fragment of my life and most certainly still have some of the most important moments in my life to come I want to make people aware of the importance of respecting yourself and believing in your own abilities early on.

What to Do in Times of Vulnerability (4 min read)

As soon as the southwest monsoon flows over the air there was an occurrence of a vague loneliness I cannot explain. The moisture-laden wind carries with it a painful sensation I do not even want to go back to. The climax of the summer heat is almost over and the season was telling me June is coming.  I wish I have the power to remove it from the calendar of time because it brings with it the memories of the most unbearable agony of losing my son.  And I’m scared.

EVIL IS EVERYWHERE. It’s right around every corner of the world. Wait a minute! (Just remembered that Earth has no crooks because it’s spherical), but yeah, evil ranging from its tiniest to prevalent form is all over. Not giving your little brother his fair share of the chocolate bar; using your nerd, spineless, pale skinned but good friend for your own advantage are illustrations of evil in its small forms. On the other hand, rape and taking the lives of fellow humans are evil in the most cruel forms. Continue reading Know Where You’re Coming From (2 min read)

9 Things You Can Do to Become a More Successful You (2 min read)

1. Decide what is important and why.

What is your motivation for wanting to develop a new habit? Will it improve your life? Envision the outcome if you don’t make the change. Then decide how you are going to make the change. If you want more clients, make more contacts; if you want to get more done in the day, get up an hour earlier; if you want to be healthier, instill an exercise regimen into the daily routine. Set a goal and then give yourself a timeline to complete it.
