Downsize your doubts – deep breaths and realize them for what they are

Stop trying to make everyone else happy.

Kill your inner Critic – reflect but don’t criticize. Make lists of Times you showed compassion for someone, your positive attributes and skills, and times you coped with difficult situations. Think about things from lists when you begin to criticize yourself.

Today I am going to talk about the power of auto-suggestion and the subconscious mind. To be honest, this is something that I recently began to believe in and have quickly come to realize the power of it.

Napoleon Hill defines auto-suggestion as the “agency of communication between the conscious mind and the seat of action for the subconscious mind”. Let’s break this down a little bit. Basically, your subconscious mind is your most powerful and valuable asset. Your subconscious mind drives all your actions and results in life without you even realizing it.

Change. The irony here is unbelievable. Seriously though, change is constantly around us. It’s there when a simple smile turns into a frown, when the sun comes out after rain, when we wear new clothes or get a haircut. It’s always there. Yet, somehow we cringe at the idea of change. Some of us, think the world is perfect and nothing should change. Continue reading What is Constant? (1 min read)

It’s never easy to make a big change in hopes of becoming a better self (if it was, we’d all be in amazing shape, be CEOs, have perfect health, never feel anxious, and have found a simple solution to every other problem we have, right?) The truth is, a good mind is the first step to making a positive change in any aspect of life.

Maintaining balance in your life requires keeping your body healthy. I’m sure you’ve been bombarded, with the rest of modern society, on tips for eating healthily, maintaining a healthy weight, and getting fit. With all the information already out there, you’re likely to be bored with just another blog about “losing weight” or “getting fit.” Great! That’s not what this about.

Maintaining a healthy body does require proper nutrition & physical activity, but when this becomes your driving force, your mind & soul suffer, & you become out of balance. When your main focus in life is counting every single calorie, carb, & fat gram, and/or working out before, during, & after work or school, you’re taking so much time and energy away from the two other aspects of yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I truly believe in nutritious meal planning & being physically active, but moderation & balance are truly key.

Also, don’t forget the need to rest your body! This is vital in keeping your body healthy, & developing & maintaining balance in your life. Imagine your body as a car. Your car needs fuel and maintenance (food) to run (exercise) efficiently, but if you drive your car constantly without fuel, maintenance, & never stopping, it’ll eventually be “ragged out.” And to further use this illustration, your car needs the computer (brain) to run effectively, as well as a driver (soul) to ensure it gets where it needs to go & to know when something’s not quite right. The mind, body, & soul are interdependent, and one is no greater or lesser than the other two. Future articles will assist you in your journey to a healthier body. Please read the next post, which addresses keeping your soul healthy.

Maintaining balance in your life requires keeping your mind healthy. How do you do this? Taking care of your mind, or keeping it healthy, is like taking care of anything else in your body. You need to use it, be mindful of thoughts you allow to flow through, and by letting it rest. Your mind is a powerful thing, and too much or too little focus on the mind can throw your life out of balance. Continue reading Mind (1 min read)

Maintaining balance in your life requires keeping your soul healthy. You probably have gathered this bit of information by now if you’ve read my FIRST (yay!) two posts. What is your soul? It’s that part of you that you know is there, but you just can’t quite describe. It’s what makes you-you  -your essence if you will. If you’re neglecting this aspect of yourself, just as with the mind & body, you will become out of balance.

You may say, “I’m not religious” or “I don’t believe in that kind of stuff,” but even if you’re agnostic or atheist (which by the way, I’m a Christian & I truly do not judge those who don’t have my same beliefs), you still have a spiritual component to your “self,” & if you’re not nurturing it, you’re neglecting a third of your being.

As a Christian, I nurture my soul through many different outlets, including daily devotions, prayer, meditation, yoga, & maintaining healthy relationships with others. If you don’t have the same spiritual beliefs as I do, rest assured you can still nurture your soul. You can do this through meditation,  yoga, & maintaining healthy relationships to feel connected to something larger than yourself. These activities don’t have to be religious-focused. No matter your spiritual beliefs, or lack thereof, you still have a soul that needs to be nurtured and maintained. I hope you have a wonderful balanced week!

Patience is another word for peace of mind. Letting go does not mean you’re going to blindly excuse the behaviour of others, practice patience with Headspace, the meditation app, is the opportunity to note clearly when it’s time to let go or stand up for yourself.
