For me, one of the biggest things to learn when I first began blogging was how to relate to my audience! In school, we are taught to avoid personal pronouns such as I, we, me, etc, but when blogging, that is the most important thing to do! In this post, I will tell you some of the best tips I have discovered over my months of blogging to relate to an audience!
1. Try to be someone they are not.
In everything we do, we have to ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this? Am I suited for it? Does it fit me? Is it sustainable?” If the answer is no to any of these questions, you better have a very good reason to proceed.
1. Not knowing your audience
Every single piece of content that you create needs to be geared around your readers. Okay, maybe not every piece, but for them most part at least 50%, so keep the following points in mind:
Shut the computer.
When I need inspiration but my mind won’t play along, I shut the computer or whatever I’m working on and walk away. Then, when I’m doing something totally unrelated — taking a shower, gardening, driving somewhere or lying in bed half asleep — that’s when the light bulb comes on. Happens every time.
1. WordPress SEO by Yoast.
WordPress SEO by Yoast has recently been named the top plugin for WordPress users. This plugin functions as a complete optimization platform for the user’s page content. In addition to SEO, this plugin features a snippet editor, XML sitemaps, permalink cleanup, Meta descriptions and configuration and more.
1. Create Eye Catching Headlines
The first part of being readable is getting your reader’s attention, which starts with the headline. Interestingly, while eight out of 10 people will read your headline, only two out of 10 will read the rest. Your goal from the start is to get people to read that first paragraph, so if they stop at the headline, the rest of your effort is wasted.
